Emmett "Bad News" Jackson Jr.

Emmett Jackson Jr (Bad News), passed away peacefully on January 2nd of 2026 at the age of 89. He was surrounded by love and will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. Emmett Jackson Jr. served his country alongside his brother Russell with dedication and honor in the U.S. Army, where he learned the values of discipline, loyalty, and service. These are the values that guided his life long after military service ended. His commitment to those he loved was unwavering. Above all else, Emmett was devoted to his family. He cared very authentically for them and cherished his bonus children and grandchildren loving them as his own. Emmett lived a full and vibrant life, marked by curiosity, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that brought people together. He had a lifelong love for CB radios and could often be found tuning signals, sharing conversations, and enjoying the sense of connection they provided. Fishing was another passion of his, offering him peace, patience, and countless stories to share. He especially cherished time spent outdoors at cookouts with family and friends, where laughter was plentiful and memories were made over the delicious food he and his wife provided. A true motor enthusiast, Emmett had a special fondness for motorcycles and took great pride in building and restoring cars. His hands were rarely idle, and his mechanical skills reflected both creativity and dedication. Emmett will always be remembered for his strong spirit, his love of learning, and the joy he found in sharing his interests and knowledge with others. His stories, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Emmett is survived by his loving daughter Carla “Red” Sharpe, granddaughter Alysha “lil Ping” Sharpe and cherished nephew Russell (Russ) Jackson Jr. who diligently cared for him. He is also survived by his dear sister n law, Joyce Jackson, his daughters Donna Jackson, Cheryl Carpenter, Deborah Lamb and sons Terry Johnson and Henri Greenle, his grandchildren Darryl Boyd (Dollinda), Sophia Johnson, Dakota Martin (Roy), Anton Heath, Deandre Jones, Andrea Heath, his bonus children Richard Garrison, Huel Watkins, Dwight Dale Watkins, Ramona Holt and a host of bonus grandchildren, great grandchildren, along with many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Myrtle Jean Jackson. Those who knew Emmett will remember his strong and commanding presence, his confident and resolute character, his outspoken and determined spirit, his straightforward approach to life and his strong-willed personality. His legacy of love, service, and family will continue to live on through all who were fortunate enough to be part of his life and receive an impartation of his wisdom. A celebration of life service will be held on January 24th 2026 at A.D Porter and Sons Funeral Home. Military honors will be rendered in recognition of his service at Evergreen Cemetery. A repass will follow in the main building of Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Hildegard House of Louisville, in honor of their gratitude for the impeccable care he received in the last days leading to his transition.
