Zella M. Linton

Zella M Linton quietly departed this life on Friday, December 26, 2025. She was born to the late Rosa Masden and John D McGoffney on March 8,1924 in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Zella was a product of the Nelson County School. Zella met and married John Will Miller and to that Union five children were born. After his passing, she met and married the late Rev. W.E. Linton. Zella was employed for many years at the old Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown, Kentucky. She loved the patient care and loved working with the Sisters at the Hospital. She was later employed with the Burns Janitorial Service in her later years until her health began to fail. Zella received Christ at an early age and truly loved her Lord. She was truly a singing and praying Woman of God. Even during her illness she prayed and sang praises unto the Lord. Zella followed her late husband Rev Linton to several Church pastorates; Campbranch Baptist, First Baptist Peewee Valley. They were also part of other Church families such as Burnett Avenue Baptist and Galilee Baptist Church. She later became a member of the Christ Temple Family Life Center ( formerly Christ Temple Apostolic Church). There she served as a Missionary, with the "Joy Band" visiting the sick and shut-in until her health began to fail. She loved caring for others and her family. She led her family in doing the work of Christ in many ways, a family choir for Nursing Home visits, especially the old Fairlodge Facility, Prison visits and many other family endeavors. For Birthdays, holidays, just dinners you'd find her cooking and serving family and friends. Zella was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ollie Grundy and Beverly Mason; a brother Richard Masden. Her legacy continues through her children, Charles (Bobby) (Mary) Miller, Doris Lang, Paul Miller, Joyce Pumphrey and Mary Miller, a sister, Sherry Lou Mosby; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 7-great-great grandchildren. The Family gives great thanks to the Hospice Staff, especially Fatoumatta Jobe who shared a special bond with Zella while under the care of Hospice. "A limb has fallen from the Family Tree. I keep hearing a voice that says, " Grieve not for me," remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I am truly blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don't worry about falls. I miss you dearly, so keep your chin up until the day comes we'll be together again." Visitation with the family will be held from 10am-11am Thursday, January 8, 2026 at A. D. Porter & Sons Funeral Home, 1300 W. Chestnut St., memorial service to follow at 11am.
