Alfreda M. Edison

Alfreda passed peacefully from this life on February 12, 2022. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life. Alfreda Myrtle (Richmond) Edison, age 66 was born in Victoria, MS on May 15, 1955, to the late Alfred L. Richmond and Willie Myrtle Richmond. She graduated from Byhalia High School and then relocated to Louisville, KY in 1974. There she met and married Charles T. Edison. They were married for 47 years and she was a devoted wife and mother to their 2 children, Charles and Alisha. Alfreda had a great love for children and had such a gentle way with them. She was employed by Jefferson County Public Schools as a Teacher’s Assistant for 28 years. She also used her gift of teaching to teach Sunday School at West Broadway Church of Christ, where she was a faithful member for many years. Alfreda enjoyed caring for her 4 grandchildren, cooking for her family, and being a strong encourager to members of her church family. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, (Olance Richmond). She is survived by her husband Charles Edison; 1 son, Charles A. Edison (Shanea); 1 daughter, Alisha Alfred (Eugene); siblings, Levance Richmond, Doris King (Charlie), and Brendley Richmond; grandchildren, Christian Lowery, Charles Edison Jr., Alexander Edison, London Alfred; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended friends of the Richmond and Edison families. Alfreda was a great wife, loving mother, and good friend to all she knew. Visitation: 10am-11am Friday, February 1 8, 2022 at West Broadway Church of Christ, 3921 W. Broadway, funeral service to follow at 11am. Cemetery: Kentucky Veterans Cemetery.
