August 30, 1948 – December 9, 2020 Born and raised in Louisville. Bobby retired from Philip Morris USA-Lvl (Altria) with 32+ years of service and then relocated to Charlotte, NC during the summer of 2000. As a youngster, growing up in Cotter Homes & the old Quinn Chapel AME church, he attended DuValle Jr. High & LMHS Class of 1966. He attended WKU and graduated with a BA from U of L in 1985 & MA from Webster University 1988. During his 32+ years of working at PMUSA, he was known as “The Staging Area Supervisor” and held several other management jobs in Cigarette Mfg and a short term in HR While living in Charlotte, Bobby was a substitute math teacher and golf coach at James Martin Middle School. In 2005, he and his wife opened The UPS Store at Concord Mills. For a short time, they also owned a second UPS Store in Davidson, NC but closed it in 2011. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: a wife, Karen Cooper Cornett; daughter, Erin Rose Cornett-Strewe (Christian); son, Dondi Joe Cornett; two sisters: Morilyn Kaye Cornett and Marcheita Cornett McKinley (Bill), a niece, two nephews, 3 grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association. Open visitation will be held, Friday, December 18th from 10AM – Noon at A.D. Porter & Sons (1300 West Chestnut St.). A private (invitation only) funeral will follow. To view the live stream go to adporters.com. The burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery (4623 Preston Hwy).
