December 9, 1948 - May 5, 2020
Cynthia Woods Miller transitioned from this life to reward on May 5, 2020. Born and raised in Alcoa Tennessee, Cynthia’s gift of music was shared with her beloved community as she played the piano at her home church of St. Paul AME. Graduating valedictorian from Hall High School, she briefly attended East Tennessee State University before relocating to Louisville, Kentucky. Building a life here, Cynthia gained employment with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield where she worked as a computer programmer for the insurance company for over twenty years. Still strong in her faith, she was active in the Sunday School department at Lampton Baptist Church. Reuniting with her former hometown pastor in 2001, Cynthia moved her membership to St. Paul AME – Louisville where she decided to blow the dust off of the piano keys one more time. She was soon after named the minister of music. Always active with the church, she participated with various choirs, multiple committees, Sunday School and Bible Study groups, as well as fundraising opportunities. When the church merged with Youngs Chapel AME to create Ralph Avenue, Cynthia continued to share her gift of music and smile with the newly formed congregation. She is preceeded in death by her parents, James and Cleopatra Woods, brother Calvin Woods, and nephew Eric Anthony. Those continuing her legacy include: her daughter, Nachia Woods, siblings Judy Anthony, brothers Tommy (Debra) Woods, Larry (Pat) Woods, and special niece Natalie Woods. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and church family with whom she shared special and unique bonds. Due to the COVID pandemic, a private intimate celebration of life ceremony will be held. The repast will follow at the home of Nachia Woods where family and friends will be received. Expressions of love and sentiments can be sent in care of Nachia Woods to the funeral home or her place of residency.
