She graduated from Shortridge High School and attended IUPUI. Ellen was preceded in death by the love of her life, Desmond Smith, Sr.; parents, Tomy and Augusta Rush and her eldest sister, A'yesha Abdullah (Elaine). She leaves behind her four children, Lamia Henderson of Indianapolis, IN, Desmond Smith, Jr. of Lafayette, IN, Damien Smith, Sr. of Louisville, KY, Farrah Harrell of Indianapolis, IN and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Gardenia Rush Jennings of Indianapolis, IN. Ellen was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be greatly missed.
