Myrtle Jean Jackson

August 6, 1938 - May 19, 2019

Myrtle Jean Jackson passed away peacefully on Sunday May 19th 2019 in the caring arms of her Daughter and Granddaughter whom held and comforted her until her final breath. She was born on August 6th 1938 in Dixon KY to Emmuel Townsend and Venna Mae Tapp. In the early part of 1960 Myrtle Jean moved from the country to the city to live with her aunt. In doing so she began her adult life as a resident of Louisville KY. On August 2, 1960 she was joined in marriage to Emmett Jackson Jr. To this union was born her loving daughter Carla Y. Sharpe. Myrtle Jean started her employment career as an elevator attendant at Selman’s Department store. She retired from her employment career as an assembly line worker at General Electric in 1998. Myrtle Jean truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as spending time with her girls (daughter and granddaughter). You never saw one without the other. She also found pleasure in enjoying the breeze on her sun porch and the patio, chatting on the phone with friends and family, working crossword and seek and find puzzles, playing her piano and singing along, reading books and writing in her journal. One of her greatest passions was taking photographs of any and all events, family gatherings and any monumental moment she could capture. Myrtle Jean had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. When she loved, she loved hard unconditionally and made sure to express it every chance she got. From close family to those whom she accepted as family, she never let anyone leave her presence without them knowing she loved them and would always be there for them. With every embrace she always would say “don’t let go until I let go” to make sure that you felt just how much she cared. Myrtle Jean is survived by her husband Emmett Jackson Jr, Bonus mother Eula Mae Townsend, Sister Joyce White, Brother, Michael Townsend, Sister in law and devoted best friend Joyce Jackson, Devoted daughter Carla Sharpe and Devoted Granddaughter Alysha D Sharpe. She is also survived by her bonus children Donna Jackson and Terry Johnson, her bonus grandchildren Darrell Boyd, Sophia Johnson, Dekota Martin, Jelesia Sharpe, Candice Sharpe and special grandchildren Jackie Jones Jr., Kelly Dalton, Tiaka Wise and Latondra Campbell. She is also survived by her cousin Willie Higgins whom had a special bond with her, more like her brother, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She loved to love and will forever be loved by all whom hold her memory dear to their hearts.
