Naomi Elizabeth (Taylor) Bayne peacefully departed this life on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the age of 92. Naomi was born the eldest of eight children to Ernest and Emma Taylor on September 12, 1928. Naomi was a lifelong, faithful member of First Baptist Church of Anchorage where she remained active until her health impeded her participation in church activities. Ever devoted to helping others, she dedicated years to volunteer service. She was an active volunteer with many community agencies including the Salvation Army, the Red Cross, Eastern Area Community Ministries, the Community Action Agency, and Baptist Hospital East. Naomi also served as a volunteer mentor for Jefferson County Public Schools. Naomi attended the Forest School in Berrytown, Kentucky, Lincoln Institute in Simpsonville, Kentucky, Louisville Municipal College, and Jefferson Community College. She was employed at Central State Hospital where she served as a mental health social worker until her retirement in 1988. Naomi is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Boley” Bayne Sr.; eldest son, Robert “Boley” Bayne Jr.; and daughter, Elise D. Bayne. She is also preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Taylor and James Taylor, as well as sisters, Rena Mae Hemphill and Mary Lee Biggers. Naomi will be missed, but left to cherish her memories are her son, Lamont Bayne; sisters, Ernestine Williams, Marlene Muir (Russell), and Gwendolyn Scott (Jerome); grandchildren Calvin “Tim” Bayne and Normeshia Harbin; great-granddaughter, Jonteshia Ellington; great-great-grandson, Kainen Sanderlyn; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Anchorage located at 11500 LaGrange Road, Louisville, Kentucky.
