Whitney Anastasia Shaw

October 21, 1996 - February 9, 2020

The beautiful life of Whitney Anastasia Shaw began on Monday, October 21, 1996. She was born to Barry and Patricia Boyd-Shaw in Louisville, Kentucky. She was the one and only precious child born of this union. Whitney was affectionately called many names by her family and friends: Pretty Whitney, Wee, Whit, Whit-Whit, Nu Nu, Boo-Boo, Baby Girl, Wee Wee, My Whitney, Baby, Baby, Secretary and was known for her lovely smile and glowing personality. She accepted Christ at the age of nine and joined Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Henry M. Humphrey, Jr. Whitney was baptized by her dad and Deacon Erskin Wiiams on Sunday, June 11, 2006. She served and worked in church under his leadership and continued to grow in her faith, service and worship under the leadership of Dr. Kenneth W. Johnson, Sr. Whitney’s life was dedicated to God, church, family and friends. Whitney still had the heart to serve and work in the church on her sick bed. She has served on the Junior Usher Board, the Youth Choir, Pastor’s Banquet Committee, Chaired the Church Anniversary Committee, Captain of Church Anniversary Committee, President of Radical Praise, teacher in Vacation Bible School, attended Sunday School and Bible Study. Whitney loved the Lord and on Sunday, February 9, 2020, He heard her cry after 384 days of hospital stays and seventeen code blues, God called His servant back to Him. You have fought a good fight my child, now take your rest. Whitney attended Brandeis Elementary School, Slaughter, T. J. Middle School and was a graduate of Central High School. She had eighteen credit hours left before becoming a graduate of the University of Kentucky. Whitney was former member of Black Achievers. She was a past employee of The Louisville Zoo, Zaxby’s, Charlotte Russe and Wal-Greens. She dedicated the summer of “2016” working as a caregiver of her “Grinny” Mary Boyd. Her legacy is reflected as a Christian, beautiful daughter, loveable niece, enjoyable cousin, and a great friend. To cherish fond memories, Whitney leaves her parents, Barry and Patricia, aunts, Claudette Samuels, T. Renee Gordon, Chantele Boyd, Yvonne Gordon, Veronica Lee, Nina Collier, Jennifer and Erica Shaw; uncles. Arthur and Cosley Boyd, Lenworth Gordon, Rodger Samuels, Larry, Gregory and Donald Shaw; cousins, Arthur Boyd, Jr., Roshana Cheek (Mike), Sydni Gordon, and Byron Shipp, Larnel, and Vernicka Shaw, Victoria Lee, Tratonia, Antonelle and Anthony Spicer, Jr., Jamila Collier, Troy, Mary, Tabitha and George Harrison, Jr. God-Parents; Kevin Anderson (Lynn) and Freda Austin. Paw- Paw, Pastor Kenneth W. Johnson, Sr. Special aunts, Betty Brown, Rose Walter, Emma Humphrey, and Deborah McLaurin, special uncles, Roberto Grider, Leslie Smith, Glenn Brown, and Tyrone Goodman; Her inner circle; DeShaun Oliver (BFF), Aaron Bullard, Harold Anderson, Jr. Kayla Drake, Crystal Henderson and Dana Marbrey, along with a host of cousins, Shiloh Church Family and friends.
